I Love Us

Lots Of Patterns

IMG_4196.jpg

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. The layout this week reminds of the good things I have in my life, which is so important during the scary times we are in right now. This photo was taken several years ago at Yosemite National Park with my husband. It was a gorgeous fall day and we had a lot of fun. I’m hoping we can travel again soon.

Untitled.png

I used some background paper with adorable owls from Heartfelt Creations. I chose a print that had the 2 owls embracing because it really matched the vibe in the photo. The dark purple paper i part of the same collection and dictated the tricolor palette for the page.

sos june challenge.jpg

This page was created for the Scrap Our Stash June challenge which was a recipe card. I ended up using way more than 5 patterned papers but I Iove all the contrasting patterns. I used buttons, ribbon, brads and enamel dots to embellish.

That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting and stay safe, happy, and remember all the good things you have!

Happy Sunshine Moments

Tropical Brights

IMG_4182.jpg

Hi scrappers! Can you believe it’s June?! Despite all the chaos bringing life nearly to a standstill, time marches on.

Summer is here again and this week’s page features some photos from a trip to Hawaii several years back. These were taken in Waikiki in the man-made bay in front of the Hilton Hotel.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of off-white card stock and added a piece of subtly patterned paper from The Paper Studio’s Entirely Textures stack. In keeping with the tropical vibe of my photos, I used a piece of pineapple and floral patterned paper from the Utopia stack by Authentique. If you’re looking to scrap photos of a tropical vacation, this stack is perfect. All the papers have vintage feel while featuring Hawaii-centric patterns. I used some pink paper with a water marble design to mat my photos along with some pale pink card stock. I embellished with some paper and chipboard tags, little pink sandals by Jolee’s Boutique, and some pineapple washi tape.

June 1 Sketch #423 Jenessa.jpg

This page was created for the Sketches in Thyme June challenge. The sketch called for a long title and the one I used definitely fit the bill. I used alphabet stickers from the Maggie Holmes sticker book by American Crafts. I was inspired to include a camera just like the sketch and found one in the Amy Tangerine sticker book, also by American Crafts. These books are great! They are meant to be used with a personal planner but they make for perfect scrapbook embellishments.

322 copy.jpg

This page was also created for Color, Story Inspiration. Check out their super fun and fruity mood board! I used the associated “evidence” on this page:

  • Solid colored card stock

  • Paper with a painted look

  • Patterns with fruit or plants

  • Fruit

  • Palm fronds or other foliage

  • Rub-ons

  • Washi Tape

  • Use the same font alpha in different colors

Thanks for stopping by. Everyone stay safe out there!

Boho Flair

IMG_4169.jpg

Hi everyone! Here’s my last creation for the month of May. This photo was taken a few years ago in Laguna Beach, California. I wanted to match all the earth tones in the the photo so I’ve developed a neutral palette for this page.

Untitled.png

I used a polka dot print paper and a a bird embellished paper both from My Mind’s Eye’s Lost and Found Breeze stack. Brown and peach floral washi tape made for a subtle embellishment. I used a sticker from MAMBI’s Dream Seeker sticker book for the title.

May.jpg

This page was made for Scrap The Girls May challenge which is all about boho! I used the mood board as inspiration for the photo I chose and the color palette. I kept the embellishments feminine and earthy. This challenge was really fun!

Thank you for visiting! I’ll see you in June :)

Intricate Cutting And Tags

IMG_4143.jpg

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having a fun and safe Memorial Day! I spent the day watching “I’m Not Okay With This” on Netflix. It’s based on a comic book and is abut an awkward, poorly adjusted teen who develops super powers she can’t really understand or control. Kinda like Stranger Things meets 16 Candles. I highly recommend!

The page for this week features my best friend. I’ve known her since 3rd grade and she was the maid of honor in my wedding. We don’t see each other very often since she now lives about 7 hours away, but when we get together, it’s like no time has passed at all! I was in her neck of the woods since my sister had an art show near her home. We were able to spend the day together while admiring my sister’s awesome art!

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of embossed kraft paper from DCWV. I love this stack! I feel like I always go to it when I need something kraft-colored. I used teal piece of paper from DCWV’s Violet Leaf stack to mat my photos, and a really cool patterned paper with vintage cameras from Crate Paper’s Maggie Holmes stack. I cut out some individual cameras as well as along the top of the cameras at the bottom of the page to add further detail. I also used some stickers from the Dear Lizzy sticker book by American Crafts that also has camera embellishments.

May 20 challenge.jpg

This page was created for the May Kraft Pus Challenge which was all about cutting, hence cutting out the cameras.

Thanks for visiting everyone. Keep on scrapping!

All Kinds of Awesome

Embellishments Only

IMG_4119.jpg

Welcome back to my page! I’ve been busy putting together another layout for another challenge. These photos were taken last Fall in a ark overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. It was super windy as you can see in the second photo, but worth it for the breath-taking views.

Untitled.png

This page is very different from my usual style. Most of the time, I will use several, if not a dozen different papers, even if it’s just small scraps. For the first time I have used one piece of paper. No accents, no mats for my photos, nothing! The wood grain paper from The Paper Studio’s Dendrology stack is all I used. Everything else is stickers and embellishments. As a result, this page took me half the time to create since al I had to do was arrange all their pieces to my liking and glue them down. If you’re looking to fast track making a page and have a ton of bits and bobs that need to be used up this is the perfect technique.

318 copy.jpg

The page was created for Color, Story, Inspiration’s May challenge. As you can see, the mood board heavily influenced the look of my page, not just with the color palette, but the sketch itself. I mimicked placing objects on a wooden background, giving it a similar look. I also noticed the mood board includes a character from one of my favorite childhood movies My Neighbor Totoro. It just so happens the shirt was wearing in these photos features the same character! How’s that for serendipity?

Evidence Used:

  • Wood Background

  • Donuts

  • Metal

  • Camera

  • Clock

  • Something Glossy

  • Jewels

That’s all for this time Stay safe everybody!

Jewel Tones And Gold

IMG_4109.jpg

Hi scrappers! I hope everyone is ding well and staying safe while binging Neflix shows or whatever else you’re all doing during quarantine. This week’s layout features some photos taken back when international travel was an option. My husband and I went to Iceland in 2018 and while there, we went to the famous Blue Lagoon. My husband had a small pocket sized camera in a water housing and took some really fun photos from that afternoon.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of purple and gold paper from an absolutely ancient stack by Paper Pizazz. I have so much old stuff I need to use up! I used some gold and green frames from Pink Paislee’s Auburn Lane Ephemera pack and some mixed media stickers by Momenta for the title. The gold matched the detailing on my background paper perfectly!

May 1 2020 Sketch.jpg

This page was created for the May challenge at Sketches in Thyme. This was a fun sketch to recreate, although I didn’t want to cover up the collage details on my background paper so I omitted and rearranged some elements.

This page was also created for Lasting Memories May challenge where I had to incorporate striped paper, stars and washi tape into my layout. I used a piece of green patterned paper from Artsy Collage’s Textured Paper book for the stripes. I used blue and purple floral washi tape at the centers and corner’s of the page. I used small star brads as well as some gold stickers from the Shimelle sticker book.

12_4_ColorNature_ChelseaLi-1024x932.png

I used this gorgeous color palette from Design Seeds as the inspiration for this page If you’re ever stuck on putting a project together, scroll through this site and you’ll feel inspired in no time!

Sweet Kitty

Patterns and Metallics

IMG_4096.jpg

Hi everyone! Another week, another layout! I was at work one day when my husband texted me these photos of my cat Jupiter in a very affectionate mood. She is one of those cats that can be very calm and sweet one moment and very bitey the next. That just makes moments like this even more precious.

Untitled.png

I used a piece of wood grain paper from My Mind’s Eye’s Bramble Rose stack as my background. Blue and white striped paper from My Mind’s Eyes Lost and Found Breeze stack pairs nicely with other blue and red paper. I added some “meow” washi tape from The Paper Studio as well as some old cat stamps my mom gave me years ago. Im’ not sure if they’re real, but they make perfect embellishments! Sticker books by Maggie Holmes and Dear Lizzy provided additional embellishments and part of the title. I also found an old vellum envelope and filled it with sequins and little cat punches.

nsd 2020 sketch.jpg

This page was created for Scrap N Stash’s May challenge. I substituted flowers for tags and enamel dots. I feel like I use enamel dots on almost every page. I love them!

May 20 tic tac toe.jpg

This page was also made for Studio Challenge’s May Tic Tac Toe challenge. I used Enamel Dots, Washi Tape and Tags.

That’’s all for now Thanks for visiting! Stay safe everyone.

The Cutest Critter

Utilizing Double-Sided Paper

IMG_4076.jpg

Hi scrappers! Welcome to May. It’s been getting so hot here in Southern California, but all of our beaches are closed! I’ve been doing lots of yoga and, of course, scrapbooking! What have you all been doing to pass the time during quarantine?

This page features a photo of my kitty Europa. She’s a Turkish Angora mix that I rescued through the Pets Mart adoption program. I love how she’s hamming it up for the camera in this photo.

Untitled.png

I started with a double-sided piece of paper from DCWV’s Country Manor stack. Double-sided papers mean having to figure out what side of the paper to feature. I liked the floral side, but felt a whole page of it would make for a very busy layout. I cut a 3 inch piece to use as an accent then cut the remainder into 2 4 inch pieces, I mounted these all on basic white card stock. In this way, I featured the best of both sides and you would never guess that it was made up of three separate strips or that it all came from the same piece of paper.

May whats my challenge.jpg

This page was created for the May Tic Tac Toe challenge at Scrap Our Stash. I ended up overachieving and used all 9 elements on my page!

  • Wood Veneer- Thickers Chipboard Alphabet Letters

  • Ink Splatters- Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint in Regency Blue and Caribbean

  • Flowers- Good Day Sunshine chipboard accents by Echo Park Paper Co.

  • Brad- Green Button Brad

  • Enamel Dots- by Echo Park Paper Co. and My Mind’s Eye

  • Paper Doily- from Michael’s

  • Chipboard- Alphabet Stickers by The Paper Studio

  • Puffy Sticker- Stick A Bilities Kitten Puffy Stickers

  • Twine- Bakers Twine, brand unknown

This page was also created for Let’s Get Sketchy’s May challenge. I only used 1 photo instead of 2 and matted a cat sticker as a smaller focus point in its place.

Thanks for visiting friends. Stay safe and keep scrappin!

Choose Joy

Bright Colors And Fun Flowers

Snapseed(2).jpg

Hey scrappers! As April draws to a close, I bring you my final creation for the month. This picture was taken last year on a trip to the Mojave Desert. It was after a heavy rain so there were plenty of flowers blooming. I used that as inspiration for this page and jam-packed as many flowers as possible onto one layout.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of bright floral velum from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes stack. I layered it over basic white card stock and also yellow card stock for a different look. I matted a quote from DCWV’s vellum quote stack and embellished with stickers from Dear Lizzy and Shimelle sticker books.

April20 Sketch.jpg

This page was created for the Studio Challenges April Challenge. Instead of traditional journaling, I used a quote and lots of embellishments.

This page was also made for the Lasting Memories April challenge. The challenge is to use an item or technique corresponding to each letter of the word ‘flower.’ This is what I used:

  • F-Floral Paper

  • L-Lace

  • O-Orange Brads

  • W-White Background

  • E-Enamel Dots

  • R-Ribbon

That’s it for the month of April. I’ll see you in May!

Think Pink

Powder Pink and Kraft

IMG_3967.jpg

You guys. I feel like I’ve done more scrap booking during this quarantine than I have in the past 6 months combined! And yet, I’m nowhere near catching up with all the photos I have! At least I’m not taking to many new photos because no makeup, unwashed hair and pajamas are not really conducive to selfies.

This photo was taken at Flutter Experience in Los Angeles last year. It’s one of many pop-up interactive art galleries designed or a younger audience This photo was taken in a small room where moving art was projected on all 4 walls. There were also motion sensors installed so a viewers motion can influence what is happening. It was a really col experience and I’ve never seen anything like it!

Untitled.png

I used piece of embossed kraft paper and added a piece of chevron print paper from The Paper Studio’s Shoppe on the Square stack. I used punches to make the circles and tag and embellished with paper and burlap flowers, decorative brads and a tiny ruler.

Apr'20 inspiration.jpg

This age was created for the Kraft + April Challenge. Isn’t their mood board cute? I took inspiration from the color palette, emphasizing the color pink. I used feminine embellishments like flowers and the ruler because it reminded me of measuring tapes used in dress design.

That’s all for this time. Thanks for visiting my page. Stay safe everyone!

Purple Tones And Polka Dots

IMG_3952.jpg

Hey scrappers! I hope everybody is happy and healthy and staying indoors. What are some of the shows that you’ve been able to catch up on? Podcasts? I’d love some recommendations!

This week’s page features a photo taken when my husband and I went to go see a show at the Republik while we were in Hawaii last year. My husband’s band was actually the opening act! It was fun to see him play with his friends again since they don’t get together very often.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of purple geometric paper from Paper Studio’s Bea-Hue-Tiful stack. I added cream and white paper from DCWV’s Copper Luxury stack and made some hearts with a Marvy Uchida punch. I added tiny heart brads and heart stickers by One Canoe Two.

316 copy.jpg

This page was created for 123 Challenge Blog’s April challenge. I embellished the sketch by adding more to the upper right corner but kept kept the motif of hearts.

That’s all for now, Thanks for visiting my page!

Oh Darling, Let’s Be Adventurous

Flowers, Dots and Doodles

IMG_3928.jpg

Hey everyone! Welcome back! This week I bring you a fun, floral, Spring-inspired page. The photo was taken during the 2014 super bloom in Orange County, California. It’s not visible in the picture, but the bluff overlooks the ocean. It was a beautiful view: flowers in one direction and the beach in the other.

Untitled.png

The gray music note print paper is from an old Momenta stack of gray scale prints. I cut a strip that featured the bird detail and mounted it on dark blue paper from an ancient Paper Pizazz stack.I layered paper scraps and a tag by My Mind’s Eye and finished with pink and gold embellishments and hand drawn gold doodles.

316 copy.jpg

This page was created for Color Stories, Inspirations April challenge. I used the following “evidence”

  • Triangles

  • Plus Signs

  • Speech Bubbles

  • Flowers

  • Birds/Butterflies

  • Gold

  • Hand-Drawn Elements

Our Iceland Adventure

Gray, Teal And Bokeh Sparkles

IMG_3917.jpg

Hi everyone! This extra time at home has allowed me to put together another sketch during the week. Usually I have to limit my scrapbooking to the weekend but since I’m not commuting, I have some extra time to work on projects.

This page features some photos from when my husband and I went to Iceland’s Blue Lagoon in 2018. It was such a cool experience and I definitely recommend it if you ever get the chance to go. Big tip though: do NOT get your hair wet! I initially had my hair up in a bun but let it down. The minerals in the water, while great for skin, are terrible for hair and damaged my hair so badly that I had to cut nearly a foot off when I got home,

Untitled.png

I started with a purple-black bokeh print paper from Craft Smith’s Summer Dream stack. From there, I layered teal and gray paper scraps including some typography print paper from DCWV’s Adore Me stack. I added a few wooden embellishments for texture as well as some teal travel-themed touches.

April 2020.jpg

This page was created for Scrap The Girls’ April Challenge which was a quote rather than a mood board or layout. We definitely left our town (and our whole continent!) for this vacation.

Capture.PNG

The color palette inspiration for this palette comes from another awesome free site called Coolors. This is another site that will generate a whole palette based on any single color you choose. Another cool feature is you can lock into place colors you want to keep and have the computer swap out the ones you don’t until you find something you like.

Come On, Get Happy

Neon Coral And Summer Vibes

IMG_3908.jpg

Hey scrappers! Anybody else find themselves with some extra time to work on some pages now that we can’t go outside? While I’m lucky enough to be able to work from home, I’m missing eating at restaurants and going to the beach. This layout reminds me of better times when I was able o take a trip to Hawaii last year.

Untitled.png

I found some popsicle print paper from One Canoe Two’s Goldenrod stack that really matched the summer vibe. This page doesn’t have a ton of embellishments compared to other ones I have made so I made sure to make them count. I used matching popsicle cut-outs from One Canoe Two’s coinciding Ephemera pack. I also used some stickers from Crate Paper’s Journal Studio sticker book. It’s amazing how many bright, coral-colored things I had in my stash!

apr scrap1.jpg

This page was made for the Scrap Our Stash April Challenge. The feeling I chose to portray was obviously “Happy” and I used it in my title which was made with Doodlebug Loopy Lou alphabet stickers.

Bug Hunting

Dots, Hearts, Plaid And Squares

IMG_3831.jpg

Hi scrappers! This week I bring you a page that features both of my fuzzy pets Europa and Jupiter. These pictures were taken last Summer when the cats were out on the patio and found a june bug. They were both pretty interested in it but did not seem to know what to do with it. Do your pets play with the bugs they find too?

Untitled.png

I started with some embossed red and white geometric paper from DCWV’s Letterpress Stack and paired it with some pale green embossed dot paper. I actually had a large amount of ladybug printed stuff in my stash which I felt fit with the page. The kitty sticker was actually something I think my mom gave me when I was in middle school and I’ve held onto it for 20+ years! It finally has a home on this page! I love the little vellum ladybugs from Paper Pizazz’s Vellum Cut-Outs. They look like they’re crawling all over the page!

313 copy.jpg

This page was created for the Color, Stories, Inspiration’s March challenge. Their inspiration photo is so cute and very appropriate for St. Patrick’s Day. Check out the “evidence” prompts I incorporated into my page below:

  • Dot

  • Gingham

  • Pig or other animal (Cats)

  • Ladybug

  • Hearts

  • Flowers

  • Ribbon

  • Something curly or swirly

Thanks for visiting my page everyone! I’ll see you next time.

I Love My Life And The Ones In It

Sunset Neon

IMG_3819.jpg

Hi scrappers! This week I bring you a bright and happy page featuring a flashback photo from when I went Hawaii several years ago. I love this freeze frame with the water caught mid-air.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of gray patterned paper from Recollections’ Girls Life paper pad. I used the pink, purple and orange designs on this paper as a basis for the color palette and pulled both patterned and solid papers in these colors from my scrap stash. I layered strips of bright papers as a base then added more embellishments like a paper doily, tags and more scraps.

This page was created for Lasting Memories March challenge which is simply using patterned paper. I used 12 different patterned papers on this page along with 4 solids. This challenge is a great way to use up old paper scraps!

Sister

Pretty And Macabre

IMG_3805.jpg

Hey everyone! Halloween is a long way off, but this week I bring you a slightly spooky page featuring my younger sister. My sister is an amazing artist and has always been inspired and fascinated by dinosaurs, monsters, and all things macabre. This page is a representation of how I see her: beautiful, unique, and wonderfully quirky,

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of subtly printed skeleton paper from the DCWV Dark Romance stack. I used it as my background and layered over paper scraps of old typography and antique keys to give the page an old fashioned feel. It reminds me of the Victorian era since people of that time were fascinated by the occult and the strange. In fact, check out this link for other weird things the Victorians were into!

March Challenge 2020.jpg

This page was created for the March challenge at Scrap The Girls. Isn’t their mood board amazing? I love the juxtaposition of life and death in the same photo. I took inspiration both from some of the colors and incorporating flowers and feathers with the skeletons.

This page was also created for the February challenge at Studio Challenges. The goal was to use an element on the page that started with each of the letters of the word “Heart.” My choices are as follows:

Capture.PNG

The color palette above that I used for my page comes from a really cool website called Color Space. You can select any color and the site will create multiple color pallets featuring that color. The best part is it’s all free! I recommend you check it out!

Remember Spring

Dripping Paint And Hand-Painted Florals

IMG_3774.jpg

Hi everyone! I bring you another layout during the month of February. I’m on a roll! I can’t remember the last time I was able to make a page a week for a whle month! This page features photos my husband took of me back in 2014 during a massive super bloom. I had just bought this amazing lipstick by Kat Von D that I’m wearing in these photos. My husband is not a fan of the purple lipstick but I really like it!

Untitled.png

I’ve been continuing a trend of choosing one paper I use on each page at random. It forces me to use up paper in bulk stacks I wouldn’t normally use and to really get creative to intigrate the paper with other objects in my stash. In this case, the random paper was the red woodgrain print from Paper Studio’s Entirely Textures stack. I paired the red with purple, blue and gray that really contrasts and highlights the yellow flowers in my photos. I was able to incorporate and finally use up some ancient items in my stash like the ladybug charms and the chipboard clockface piece. I also used some bird details from Tim Holtz Emphemera pack and some stickers from a MAMBI Happy Planner sticker book.

Emma Uber Lady in a blue hat.jpeg

This page was created for ARTastic’s February Challenge and featured this image by Emma Uber as inspiraton. The challenge required both paint and flowers to be used on the page. I really liked all the intricate hand-painted flowers in Emma’s painting so I created similar ones of my own. I also liked the paint drips so I replicated the effect on my page as well. I threw in a few more silk flowers for good measure.

7_21_SweetTones_vanesaconunaese_Vanesa1-1024x934.png

I used Design Seeds to find a color pallet for my page and settled on this one. Blue, purple and pale gray are unexpected colors to go with my photos, but I like the end result. That picture is making me crave sme sort oof raspberry ice cream dessert!

That’s it for this installment. Thanks for visiting my page!

Jelly Bean Toes

Antique Browns And Pale Pinks

IMG_3759.jpg

Hi everyone! This week’s page make me feel cozy and warm just looking at it. Is there anything better than snuggling up the family pet? I love the warm, brown tones that match my kitty’s fur contrasted with the light pink of her little toe beans. There’s lots of texture going on with this page; everything from the fur in the photo to the rough burlap to the steel and wood of my embellishments. This page has it all!

Untitled.png

I started with some antique button patterned paper from the Recollections Regent Street stack. This is one of those patterns that can only work on a very specific page. I feel like it found the perfect home with this layout!. I had scraps of brown plaid paper from the same Regent Street stack that framed the page nicely along with some bits of lace. I made the title from small gray stickers by Hazel & Ruby and Thickers patterned chipboard stickers.

82264153_501593510481100_317271171185770496_n.jpg

This page was created for the Let’s Get Sketchy February Challenge. I decided to use one big photo instead of two smaller ones and moved my title up higher since it ended up being so big. I substituted the triangle details for a chipboard pennant and burlap square which I covered in brown and pink embellishments.

Hello Blue Skies

Brilliant Blues And Sparkles

IMG_3733.jpg

Hi scrappers! This week’s layout is very blue and very sparkly. The photos featured were taken during last year’s superbloom. It’s not often you find a field of flowers next to the beach. It was gorgeous!

Untitled.png

I had the super sparkly blue paper in my stash and basically based the whole layout around it. Those little sparkles are now all over my house and I’m sure I’ll be finding them on the floor for weeks! I used some paper flowers by Recollections along with some jewel studded flowers by Paper Studio. I found some blue buttons and brads that matched perfectly and used some Amy Tangerine glitter foam stickers for the title.

Azure-Blue.jpg

This page was created for the White…with 1 February challenge. I actually didn’t have a lot of items in my stash that were this color so I went out and bought some stuff…which I ended up using very little of. Does that happen to anybody else?? I just can’t help going overboard in Michael’s. I did end up using the sheer satin ribbon and the washi tape. I love how this color matched the sky in my photos but contrasted so nicely with the yellow.

Feb 20.jpg

The challenge also had a corresponding sketch which I turned 90 degrees to better fit my vertical photos. The sketch had a lot of circles but Ii used flowers instead.

That’s all for this very blue entry. Thanks for stopping by!
