The World Is A Beautiful Place

Baby Pink And Butterflies

IMG_4396.jpg

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my page! This week’s layout feature’s another photo taken at Iceland’s Blue Lagoon. We were there during sunset and the clouds started turning pink in the background. It’s a good thing my husband had a small waterproof camera!

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of pink and blue butterfly print paper from DCWV’s Far East stack. I used some ribbon and paper scraps to embellish and a chipboard sticker by Mambi for the title. Adhesive gems by Jolee’s Boutique add the final touch.

August 1 Sketch #431 Laura W.jpg

This page was created for Sketches in Thyme’s August challenge. I cut a paper doily in half as a stand in for one large circle and kept embellishments simple since I wanted as much of my background paper to show as possible.

10 October Adrian Feint with The Green Hen.jpg

This page was also created for ARTastic’s August challenge where I needed to include something that flies of my layout. The criteria was the perfect for the paper I had in my stash.

That’s all for now scrappers. Thanks for visiting and I’ll see you next time!

Shades Of Cranberry

IMG_4371.jpg

Hi everyone! This week’s layout combines various shades of cranberry with a start white background. The photo I used is from my 2018 trip to Iceland when my husband and I spent an afternoon at the Blue Lagoon. I still have so many photos from that trip to scrap! Since I won’t be traveling any time soon, maybe I’ll actually catch u with all my photos.

Untitled.png

I used basic white cardstock for my background and mixed a custom burgundy color of acrylic paint to splatter around. I used a piece of burgundy print paper from the My Mind’s Eye’s Everyday Tango stack and supplemented it with some paper scraps and ribbon of similar color. I painted some small wood pieces and I swear in person they are dark burgundy even though in the photos they look almost black.

Moodboard-JULY.jpg

This page was created for the July challenge at White…With 1. I love their pretty mood board and the fact that cranberry usually reminds me of winter and Christmas, but it was the color chosen for summer. I never would have paired the photo I used with this color since you wouldn’t usually pair water or summery scenes with cranberry. That’s what I love about challenges! I often come up with such unique pages while fulfilling challenge criteria.

07July 8 SIT.jpg

This page was also created for the Sketches in Thyme July challenge. I definitely drew inspiration from the watercolor effect in the background and layering of lace and patterned paper behind the photo. I chose to use one photo instead of three and substituted a metallic embellishment along the left of my photo. I used an epoxy sticker by the Paper Studio for my title as well as a metal reddish-copper tag by Tim Holtz.

Thank you so much for visiting everyone! Stay safe, stay scrappy and I’ll see you next time!

The Beach Life

Beachy And Bohemian

IMG_4325.jpg

Happy July scrappers! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. This week’s page is summery indeed, featuring some photos I took of my husband in Hawaii. He’s a professional landscape and waterscape photographer. He has a special waterproof housing for his camera that allows him to take photos of the ocean waves. These pics show him doing his thing! You can see his photography here!

Untitled.png

I started with a gorgeous piece of pastel cloud print paper from The Paper Studio’s Bea-Hue-Tiful stack. I cut a square of blue vellum and turned it at an angle and placed my photos over it. I used beach embellishments like K & Company’s travel diecuts and some waves and shells by Jolee’s Boutique. Stickers by Maggie Holmes and several types of ribbon add lots of detail.

Untitled-28.jpg

This page was created for Scrap the Boys July challenge. I really like the colors in their mood board this month and it seemed to fit with my tropical theme. I liked all the feminine elements even though the photos featured boys and I reflected that in my page.

Thank you everyone for stopping by. I’ll see you next time!

Double Trouble

Bright And Cheerful

IMG_4314.jpg

Hello everyone! Welcome to July. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer (or winter, depending where you live.) This week’s layout includes summery yellow and other bright colors. The photos featured are of my two kitties Jupiter and Europa. These sweet babies make my life so much butter with their crazy antics and affection. They are double the fun, but also double the trouble when they misbehave.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece or floral striped paper from the Shimelle Little by Little stack. I based my color palette around this paper and made yellow the primary color. I used yellow cardstock from DCWV’s Brights stack. I cut down my 4X6 photos to fit on my page and used some pale blue AC cardstock to mat them. Thickers chipboard letter stickers make up one park of my title and some ancient stickers by Creative Imaginations made up the other. I mounted the word ‘trouble’ on a mini MAMBI banner. I used some cute kitty mixed media stickers by Paper House and some floral ephemera from My Mind’s Eye Hello Gorgeous collection.

LM #505 - 6 photo sketch.jpg

This page was creating for Lasting Memories July layout challenge. stayed pretty true to the original sketch, using a tag from K & Company’s Tag Pad near the title. Stickers from Shimelle’s sticker book makes up the subtitle and some Paper Shapers decorative scissors gave me a fancy edge along the red cardstock at the bottom, just like in the sketch.

That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting. Until next time, keep scrappin’ everyone!

Rainbow Brights

IMG_4283.jpg

Hi everyone! This week’s page features COLOR! The photo I used is from last year’s trip to Hawaii. My husband and I are outside a venue in downtown Honolulu called The Republik where he played a show with his old band.

Untitled.png

As soon as I knew I was doing a rainbow page, I knew I wanted to used paper from the Vicki Boutin Mixed Media stack. I think I bought this stack just for the rainbow heart paper, but there’s lots of other fun prints too. I contrasted all the color with a piece of taupe cardstock from the DCWV Neutral stack. I made a triple mat frame for my photo with some colorful paper scraps and lined the left side of the rainbow heart insert with some Amy Tangerine washi tape.

This page was created for the Facebook group My Little Scrapbook Store. They post challenges throughout the month and when I saw this one, I knew I had to give it a try. I pulled a plethora of bright colored embellishments from my stash for this one!

This page was also created for the ARTastic Challenge. This month’s challenge focused on the words! I interpreted that by making a big title with watercolor alphabet stickers by Sticko.

That’s all for this very colorful edition. Thank you for visiting!

Sneaky Creep

Pastel Textures

IMG_4272.jpg

Welcome back to my blog everyone! This week I’ve created a soft and playful layout featuring my kitty. She always has to be in the same room as me, even if she doesn’t want to interact. She’s always watching like a little creeper.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of double sided paper from an unused paper collection in my stash that I forgot I even had. Does that ever happen to anyone else? I made a diagonal cut and flipped one half to display both sides. I used some velour ribbon, paper scraps and some kitty embellishments that were also a very old selection from my stash. A piece of polka dot paper from my collection of scraps ties it all together.

89566113_570372656887910_7098953222227755008_n.jpg

That page was created for Let’s Get Sketchy’s June challenge. I love how the diagonal is not from corner to corner but is asymmetrical. I used flower brads in place of all the little dots

Thanks for dropping by friends! See you next time!

Vintage Blue and Yellow

IMG_4260.jpg

Greetings scrappers! This week I bring you a sketch with a lot going on. I didn’t intend to mix so many patterns, but I like how it turned out. The photo I used is of my husband and I in the Mojave. We were driving home from a trip to Borrego Springs and saw a ton of pretty yellow flowers on the side of the road. We pulled over in front of some windmills and took this photo together.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of blue-gray floral patterned paper from The Paper Studio’s Theodosia Square stack. This stack has a lot of great vintage looking prints but the paper is very thin so I mounted it on some gray-brown kraft paper from The Paper Studio’s Affinity stack. I used a combination of paper scraps and Tim Holtz pocket cards and Idea-Ology Ephemera to create a layered collage. Everything in the Tim Holtz collection has a vintage, Victorian feel and matched my background paper perfectly.

June 2020 inspiration.jpg

This page was created for the June challenge at Kraft +. Isn’t their mood board gorgeous?! I think yellow and navy would make for some stunning wedding colors! It reminds me of that episode of Family Guy where Stewie says “I know it’s been overdone, but your colors should be yellow and gray.” I laughed so hard because at the time, yellow and gray weddings were on ever wedding blog and Pinterest page. Maybe yellow and navy will be the next big trend!

sketch 202.jpg

This page was also made for Sketch and Scrap’s June challenge. I liked that layered collage look in the sketch and elaborated on it by adding more components and detail. I used one big photo instead of the two smaller ones. I kept the title where it was and used Thickers chipboard alphabet stickers and kraft and white stickers by Amy Tangerine.

Neon Meets Pastel

IMG_4247.jpg

Hi everyone. How has everyone been doing amid the chaos? My layout this week features a peaceful moment with my kitty Jupiter. For whatever reason, these photos came out very washed out and don’t convey the true colors of the page.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of pale pink paper from DCWV’s Blush Kraft & Rose Gold stack. I used lots of stickers from the Animal Friends and Shimelle sticker books by American Crafts. All the little cat details work really well with my photos and they just happen to be in blue which matches my color palette. I used a Fiskars squeeze punch and some bakers twine to make some pennants and ties the twine around some heart brads to finish the ends.

July.jpg

This page was created for the Scrap The Girls July challenge. I kept the idea of having pennants on a string but omitted the balloon motif.

ColorCreate_craftplanter_hanni_.png

I used Design Seeds once again for color inspiration. I love the vibrant colors on a pale pink background that I mirrored in my layout.

That’s all for now Here’s to a fun and SAFE summer!

Peachy Pink Flowers

IMG_4217.jpg

Hey everyone! I hope you’re enjoying June so far! My layout for the week features my fluffy kitty Europa. She sleeps on her back often and tucks in her little paws. She looks so cute and playful and oh so photogenic!

Untitled.png

I started with some double-sided paper by Colorbok and cut it in half and flipped one side so I could display both the floral pattern and the solid. I used paper doily’s and paper scraps to surround the photo and embellished with stickers, brads, tiny tags and enamel dots.

Celebration Bingo.jpg

This page was created for the Lasting Memories June challenge. I love bingo challenges and always have so much fun doing them. This one was even more challenging because I had to incorporate 5 elements instead of the usual 3 with smaller bingo boards. I chose Doily, Stitching, Tag, Stickers and Glitter.

Capture.PNG

The palette for this page was created at Coolors. I’ve talked about them before, but I can’t stop raving about this great, free palette generator. love the feature that let’s you lock in colors that you love, and randomly swap out others utill you find the perfect pallet. You can see the colors that I locked in the screen grab above. The bright, fresh colors chosen gave me a beautiful result.

Thank you for stopping by. I’ll see you next time for a brand new page!

Lots Of Patterns

IMG_4196.jpg

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. The layout this week reminds of the good things I have in my life, which is so important during the scary times we are in right now. This photo was taken several years ago at Yosemite National Park with my husband. It was a gorgeous fall day and we had a lot of fun. I’m hoping we can travel again soon.

Untitled.png

I used some background paper with adorable owls from Heartfelt Creations. I chose a print that had the 2 owls embracing because it really matched the vibe in the photo. The dark purple paper i part of the same collection and dictated the tricolor palette for the page.

sos june challenge.jpg

This page was created for the Scrap Our Stash June challenge which was a recipe card. I ended up using way more than 5 patterned papers but I Iove all the contrasting patterns. I used buttons, ribbon, brads and enamel dots to embellish.

That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting and stay safe, happy, and remember all the good things you have!

Tropical Brights

IMG_4182.jpg

Hi scrappers! Can you believe it’s June?! Despite all the chaos bringing life nearly to a standstill, time marches on.

Summer is here again and this week’s page features some photos from a trip to Hawaii several years back. These were taken in Waikiki in the man-made bay in front of the Hilton Hotel.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of off-white card stock and added a piece of subtly patterned paper from The Paper Studio’s Entirely Textures stack. In keeping with the tropical vibe of my photos, I used a piece of pineapple and floral patterned paper from the Utopia stack by Authentique. If you’re looking to scrap photos of a tropical vacation, this stack is perfect. All the papers have vintage feel while featuring Hawaii-centric patterns. I used some pink paper with a water marble design to mat my photos along with some pale pink card stock. I embellished with some paper and chipboard tags, little pink sandals by Jolee’s Boutique, and some pineapple washi tape.

June 1 Sketch #423 Jenessa.jpg

This page was created for the Sketches in Thyme June challenge. The sketch called for a long title and the one I used definitely fit the bill. I used alphabet stickers from the Maggie Holmes sticker book by American Crafts. I was inspired to include a camera just like the sketch and found one in the Amy Tangerine sticker book, also by American Crafts. These books are great! They are meant to be used with a personal planner but they make for perfect scrapbook embellishments.

322 copy.jpg

This page was also created for Color, Story Inspiration. Check out their super fun and fruity mood board! I used the associated “evidence” on this page:

  • Solid colored card stock

  • Paper with a painted look

  • Patterns with fruit or plants

  • Fruit

  • Palm fronds or other foliage

  • Rub-ons

  • Washi Tape

  • Use the same font alpha in different colors

Thanks for stopping by. Everyone stay safe out there!

Boho Flair

IMG_4169.jpg

Hi everyone! Here’s my last creation for the month of May. This photo was taken a few years ago in Laguna Beach, California. I wanted to match all the earth tones in the the photo so I’ve developed a neutral palette for this page.

Untitled.png

I used a polka dot print paper and a a bird embellished paper both from My Mind’s Eye’s Lost and Found Breeze stack. Brown and peach floral washi tape made for a subtle embellishment. I used a sticker from MAMBI’s Dream Seeker sticker book for the title.

May.jpg

This page was made for Scrap The Girls May challenge which is all about boho! I used the mood board as inspiration for the photo I chose and the color palette. I kept the embellishments feminine and earthy. This challenge was really fun!

Thank you for visiting! I’ll see you in June :)

Intricate Cutting And Tags

IMG_4143.jpg

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having a fun and safe Memorial Day! I spent the day watching “I’m Not Okay With This” on Netflix. It’s based on a comic book and is abut an awkward, poorly adjusted teen who develops super powers she can’t really understand or control. Kinda like Stranger Things meets 16 Candles. I highly recommend!

The page for this week features my best friend. I’ve known her since 3rd grade and she was the maid of honor in my wedding. We don’t see each other very often since she now lives about 7 hours away, but when we get together, it’s like no time has passed at all! I was in her neck of the woods since my sister had an art show near her home. We were able to spend the day together while admiring my sister’s awesome art!

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of embossed kraft paper from DCWV. I love this stack! I feel like I always go to it when I need something kraft-colored. I used teal piece of paper from DCWV’s Violet Leaf stack to mat my photos, and a really cool patterned paper with vintage cameras from Crate Paper’s Maggie Holmes stack. I cut out some individual cameras as well as along the top of the cameras at the bottom of the page to add further detail. I also used some stickers from the Dear Lizzy sticker book by American Crafts that also has camera embellishments.

May 20 challenge.jpg

This page was created for the May Kraft Pus Challenge which was all about cutting, hence cutting out the cameras.

Thanks for visiting everyone. Keep on scrapping!

All Kinds of Awesome

Embellishments Only

IMG_4119.jpg

Welcome back to my page! I’ve been busy putting together another layout for another challenge. These photos were taken last Fall in a ark overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. It was super windy as you can see in the second photo, but worth it for the breath-taking views.

Untitled.png

This page is very different from my usual style. Most of the time, I will use several, if not a dozen different papers, even if it’s just small scraps. For the first time I have used one piece of paper. No accents, no mats for my photos, nothing! The wood grain paper from The Paper Studio’s Dendrology stack is all I used. Everything else is stickers and embellishments. As a result, this page took me half the time to create since al I had to do was arrange all their pieces to my liking and glue them down. If you’re looking to fast track making a page and have a ton of bits and bobs that need to be used up this is the perfect technique.

318 copy.jpg

The page was created for Color, Story, Inspiration’s May challenge. As you can see, the mood board heavily influenced the look of my page, not just with the color palette, but the sketch itself. I mimicked placing objects on a wooden background, giving it a similar look. I also noticed the mood board includes a character from one of my favorite childhood movies My Neighbor Totoro. It just so happens the shirt was wearing in these photos features the same character! How’s that for serendipity?

Evidence Used:

  • Wood Background

  • Donuts

  • Metal

  • Camera

  • Clock

  • Something Glossy

  • Jewels

Hi scrappers! I hope everyone is ding well and staying safe while binging Neflix shows or whatever else you’re all doing during quarantine. This week’s layout features some photos taken back when international travel was an option. My husband and I went to Iceland in 2018 and while there, we went to the famous Blue Lagoon. My husband had a small pocket sized camera in a water housing and took some really fun photos from that afternoon.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of purple and gold paper from an absolutely ancient stack by Paper Pizazz. I have so much old stuff I need to use up! I used some gold and green frames from Pink Paislee’s Auburn Lane Ephemera pack and some mixed media stickers by Momenta for the title. The gold matched the detailing on my background paper perfectly!

May 1 2020 Sketch.jpg

This page was created for the May challenge at Sketches in Thyme. This was a fun sketch to recreate, although I didn’t want to cover up the collage details on my background paper so I omitted and rearranged some elements.

This page was also created for Lasting Memories May challenge where I had to incorporate striped paper, stars and washi tape into my layout. I used a piece of green patterned paper from Artsy Collage’s Textured Paper book for the stripes. I used blue and purple floral washi tape at the centers and corner’s of the page. I used small star brads as well as some gold stickers from the Shimelle sticker book.

Sweet Kitty

Patterns and Metallics

IMG_4096.jpg

Hi everyone! Another week, another layout! I was at work one day when my husband texted me these photos of my cat Jupiter in a very affectionate mood. She is one of those cats that can be very calm and sweet one moment and very bitey the next. That just makes moments like this even more precious.

Untitled.png

I used a piece of wood grain paper from My Mind’s Eye’s Bramble Rose stack as my background. Blue and white striped paper from My Mind’s Eyes Lost and Found Breeze stack pairs nicely with other blue and red paper. I added some “meow” washi tape from The Paper Studio as well as some old cat stamps my mom gave me years ago. Im’ not sure if they’re real, but they make perfect embellishments! Sticker books by Maggie Holmes and Dear Lizzy provided additional embellishments and part of the title. I also found an old vellum envelope and filled it with sequins and little cat punches.

nsd 2020 sketch.jpg

This page was created for Scrap N Stash’s May challenge. I substituted flowers for tags and enamel dots. I feel like I use enamel dots on almost every page. I love them!

May 20 tic tac toe.jpg

This page was also made for Studio Challenge’s May Tic Tac Toe challenge. I used Enamel Dots, Washi Tape and Tags.

That’’s all for now Thanks for visiting! Stay safe everyone.

The Cutest Critter

Utilizing Double-Sided Paper

IMG_4076.jpg

Hi scrappers! Welcome to May. It’s been getting so hot here in Southern California, but all of our beaches are closed! I’ve been doing lots of yoga and, of course, scrapbooking! What have you all been doing to pass the time during quarantine?

This page features a photo of my kitty Europa. She’s a Turkish Angora mix that I rescued through the Pets Mart adoption program. I love how she’s hamming it up for the camera in this photo.

Untitled.png

I started with a double-sided piece of paper from DCWV’s Country Manor stack. Double-sided papers mean having to figure out what side of the paper to feature. I liked the floral side, but felt a whole page of it would make for a very busy layout. I cut a 3 inch piece to use as an accent then cut the remainder into 2 4 inch pieces, I mounted these all on basic white card stock. In this way, I featured the best of both sides and you would never guess that it was made up of three separate strips or that it all came from the same piece of paper.

May whats my challenge.jpg

This page was created for the May Tic Tac Toe challenge at Scrap Our Stash. I ended up overachieving and used all 9 elements on my page!

  • Wood Veneer- Thickers Chipboard Alphabet Letters

  • Ink Splatters- Apple Barrel Acrylic Paint in Regency Blue and Caribbean

  • Flowers- Good Day Sunshine chipboard accents by Echo Park Paper Co.

  • Brad- Green Button Brad

  • Enamel Dots- by Echo Park Paper Co. and My Mind’s Eye

  • Paper Doily- from Michael’s

  • Chipboard- Alphabet Stickers by The Paper Studio

  • Puffy Sticker- Stick A Bilities Kitten Puffy Stickers

  • Twine- Bakers Twine, brand unknown

Bright Colors And Fun Flowers

Snapseed(2).jpg

Hey scrappers! As April draws to a close, I bring you my final creation for the month. This picture was taken last year on a trip to the Mojave Desert. It was after a heavy rain so there were plenty of flowers blooming. I used that as inspiration for this page and jam-packed as many flowers as possible onto one layout.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of bright floral velum from the Crate Paper Maggie Holmes stack. I layered it over basic white card stock and also yellow card stock for a different look. I matted a quote from DCWV’s vellum quote stack and embellished with stickers from Dear Lizzy and Shimelle sticker books.

April20 Sketch.jpg

This page was created for the Studio Challenges April Challenge. Instead of traditional journaling, I used a quote and lots of embellishments.

This page was also made for the Lasting Memories April challenge. The challenge is to use an item or technique corresponding to each letter of the word ‘flower.’ This is what I used:

  • F-Floral Paper

  • L-Lace

  • O-Orange Brads

  • W-White Background

  • E-Enamel Dots

  • R-Ribbon

That’s it for the month of April. I’ll see you in May!

Powder Pink and Kraft

IMG_3967.jpg

You guys. I feel like I’ve done more scrap booking during this quarantine than I have in the past 6 months combined! And yet, I’m nowhere near catching up with all the photos I have! At least I’m not taking to many new photos because no makeup, unwashed hair and pajamas are not really conducive to selfies.

This photo was taken at Flutter Experience in Los Angeles last year. It’s one of many pop-up interactive art galleries designed or a younger audience This photo was taken in a small room where moving art was projected on all 4 walls. There were also motion sensors installed so a viewers motion can influence what is happening. It was a really col experience and I’ve never seen anything like it!

Untitled.png

I used piece of embossed kraft paper and added a piece of chevron print paper from The Paper Studio’s Shoppe on the Square stack. I used punches to make the circles and tag and embellished with paper and burlap flowers, decorative brads and a tiny ruler.

Apr'20 inspiration.jpg

This age was created for the Kraft + April Challenge. Isn’t their mood board cute? I took inspiration from the color palette, emphasizing the color pink. I used feminine embellishments like flowers and the ruler because it reminded me of measuring tapes used in dress design.

That’s all for this time. Thanks for visiting my page. Stay safe everyone!

Purple Tones And Polka Dots

IMG_3952.jpg

Hey scrappers! I hope everybody is happy and healthy and staying indoors. What are some of the shows that you’ve been able to catch up on? Podcasts? I’d love some recommendations!

This week’s page features a photo taken when my husband and I went to go see a show at the Republik while we were in Hawaii last year. My husband’s band was actually the opening act! It was fun to see him play with his friends again since they don’t get together very often.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of purple geometric paper from Paper Studio’s Bea-Hue-Tiful stack. I added cream and white paper from DCWV’s Copper Luxury stack and made some hearts with a Marvy Uchida punch. I added tiny heart brads and heart stickers by One Canoe Two.

316 copy.jpg

This page was created for 123 Challenge Blog’s April challenge. I embellished the sketch by adding more to the upper right corner but kept kept the motif of hearts.

That’s all for now, Thanks for visiting my page!
