Cute + Loved

Country Core Meets Shabby Chic

IMG_2438.jpg

Hi scrappers! This week I bring you a cozy page with a feminine farmhouse feel. The warm tones of the page really match the vibe of my photos which feature my kitty Europa soaking up the sunshine. I know I say I love every page I make but seriously, this is one of my favorites!

IMG_2616.JPG

I started with a piece of soft minty paper from American Crafts Wildflower stack. I took three 6 X 6 pages of the same print from Jodie Lee’s Nature Garden stack. I cut them up into strips and scattered them over the page. A floral tag and a piece of burlap from 7 Gypsies Junk Journal goodies added to the country feel of this page. I love the unfinished edges of the burlap. It adds a lot of texture and character. I used some Bo Bunny brads to tack down some of the stickers to the burlap since they weren’t adhering to the the rough texture very well. All stickers were from the Maggie Holmes sticker book by American Crafts.

This page was created for the Sketches in Thyme October challenge. I offset my paper strips in the background and used a rectangular accent instead of a circular one. I used roses in place of small circular embellishments and added in an extra tag.

This page was also created for Lasting Memories’ October challenge. This month’s theme is designers. I incorporated her use of pastels and vintage inspired prints in the colors and papers I used. All stickers are from her sticker book and of course I had to include her famous roses! The words making up the title are from her sticker book as well.

Feathers And Ferns

IMG_2406.jpg

Hi everyone and welcome back! This week I bring you another cozy, forest-themed Fall page. This picture was taken on a trip to Yosemite Nation Park when the leaves were just starting to change colors. We had a really great trip and I love this picture of us together!

IMG_2417.JPG

I started with some leathery textured paper by The Paper Studio. I added some gold and white feathered print paper and some matching ribbon. Some orange card stock from DCWV’s Spring stack made the perfect mat for my photo and a piece of green paper from Artsy Collage’s Textured Paper book. Some paper doilies and buttons made for the perfect embellishments along with ephemera by Pink Paisley and Simple Stories. A few transparent fern stickers and feather stickers by The Paper Studio complete the page.

cc oct.jpg

This page was created for the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie September challenge. I was inspired by both the color palette and the feather theme and incorporated both into my page.

That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting and you can also find me on Instagram and YouTube @thescrapattack.

Autumn Gold

IMG_2309.jpg

Hi scrappers! Fall is here! While you’re all sipping your pumpkin spice lattes, take a look at this autumnal layout. These photos were taken last Fall near Mammoth, CA when the leaves had already started to turn. I had bought an old vintage dress off of Etsy just to wear un fun photoshoots with my husband and I love how it looks against the green and yellow leaves.

IMG_2330.JPG

I started with some sandy colored paper by Heidi Swapp and layered over some orangey botanical paper from The Paper Studio’s Eclectic Remix stack. I used some paper scraps and some patterned paper from Echo Park’s For the Record 2 stack to create tags with my Marvy Uchida punch . I embellished with some washi tape stickers, star brads by Recollections and ephemera from Prima Marketing’s Golden Desert collection. I used paper cutouts from the Alphabet Tiles #2 book by Paper Pizazz to create the title.

#462 TicTacToe copy.jpg

This page was created for the Color My Heart Color Dare September challenge. I used the colors Shortbread, Gold and Paprika.

Sketch #233.jpg

I also created this page for the Sketch-N-Scrap’s September challenge.

That’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Wild At Heart

Blue Tones And Gilded Washi

IMG_2259.jpg

Welcome back scrappers! I just got back from a vacation in beautiful Hawaii and was inspired to create something beachy! The photos I used were not taken in Hawaii but in Laguna Beach about a year ago. Once I get all my photos printed, I’ll have tons of new Hawaii-based photos to scrap.

IMG_2266.JPG

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to use the new washi tape a got from The Washi Tape Shop. Their Summer Solstice collection is so pretty! I think the jelly fish design is my favorite and perfect for a page featuring images of the ocean. I chose three of the prints and used strips along the side of a piece of cardstock from The Paper Studio’s Splash stack. I also cut out some patterns from all three washi designs and used them as embellishments. I used some stickers from The Happy Planner’s Dream Seeker sticker book for the title and other embellishments on the page. Silk flowers, brads by Bo Bunny (from the Floral Spice and Double Dot collections) and circular puffy stickers by The Paper Studio complete the look! I used some teal text printed paper to mat my photos. Since I didn’t have enough, I had to cut strips to mount around the second one but the print really helps disguise the break between the different paper pieces.

September 2021 Main.jpg

This page was created for the More Than Words September challenge. I love their beautiful insp pic and knew that shades of blue would work well with the washi tape I wanted to use. “Ahoy” reminds me of boats and boats remind me of the ocean! I love how their prompt inspired my page.

That’s all for this week. Please visit me on YouTube and Instagram if you get the chance. You can find me at @thescrapattack.

Destination: Snow

Paper Piecing And Washi Stickers

IMG_1947.jpg

HI everyone! This week I bring you a very snowy layout. It doesn’t snow where live very ofter. Ever, actually. But depending on the time of year, the snow is a just a short drive away. We took a trip to the city of Julian for a snow day (and to eat some apples which they are so famous for.)

IMG_2177.JPG

I started with some 6 X 6 paper from Bo Bunny’s Altitude collection and used four of them to create my background. I cut a paper doily in half and used some paper scraps and vellum around the edges of my photos. I also used some washi stickers and washi strips from 49 Market as well as some dimensional stickers by the Paper Studio. I made the title with layered chipboard stickers by Bo Bunny and some travel themed stickers by MAMBI.

1 Sept - 483 Laura Rumble.jpg

This page was created for the Sketches in Thyme September challenge. I used two photos instead of four and embellished with snowflake brads and words cut from some paper from DCWV’s Black and White stack.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for visiting! I can be found on Instagram and YouTube @thescrapattack. Come follow me there!

Washi Tape And Paper Scrap Mash-Up

IMG_1922.jpg

Hi everyone! It’s officially September and that means Fall is on the way here in the Northern Hemisphere. This week I bring you a layout featuring a photo taken in Yosemite Park in California. I love this photo! I was on a dance team for many years growing up and I was impressed that I can still kick this high! The skirt makes for a colorful and dramatic picture but made climbing up on this giant tree stump a little difficult.

While it looks like we are deep in the forest, we were actually within view of a gas station and a main road. No hiking required!

IMG_1927.JPG

I started with some deep red paper from Prima Marketing’s Midnight Garden stack. It matches the skirt I was wearing but is still pretty muted, which is good because there is a lot of other stuff going on with this page. I used a mix of paper scraps and Kovano washi tapes to create a custom background. I love all the little nature details like the deer and trees and woodgrain.I tore most of the paper edges to match the Washi tape but left a few clean edges for variety.

I used some cutouts from the Tim Holtz Field Notes ephemera pack which went great with the forest theme. Some Bo Bunny Double Dot brads and a large sticker from the MAMBI Dream Seeker sticker book also made for some perfect embellishments.

set remix challege.jpg

This page was created the Scrap Our Stash September Scrap Lift challenge. I loved all the paper strips and turned mine horizontal since some of the washi tapes had patterns that would make more sense if displayed that way. I did end up using 5 patterned papers. Can you pick them out from the washi?

This page was also created for the Use Your Stuff Challenge. This month, it was Anything Goes! No moodboard, color palette or theme so I was free to create a page that really went with my photo.

That’s all for this week. Thank you for visiting and happy Fall!

Ombre Paper And Tropical Vibes

IMG_1883.jpg

Hi everyone! Summer is winding down here in California (although it feels hotter than ever!) and I’m bringing you a very summer themed page this week. These photos were taken with my husband in Laguna Beach a couple of years ago. I love the big floppy beach hat and clear water in these photos.

IMG_223B389B4997-1.jpeg

I started with some green and pink ombre paper from The Paper Studio’s Be a-Hue-Tiful stack. This paper gives me some serious summery vibes and reminds me of watermelon! I used some basic white cardstock to provide some contrast and used some leftover paper scraps to mat my photos. Some double-sided paper from Echo Park’s Creative Agenda 6 X 6 stack matched the colors on my page. I used both the white side with colorful plus signs and the navy side with teal arrows. My Marvy Uchida lever punch made punching out tags quick and easy.

I had ordered a pack of random stickers made for laptops, skateboards, etc off Amazon a while back. Within it was the giant watermelon slice sticker which works so perfectly on this page! I used some stickers from the Stick-A-Bilities Beach Bum collection as well as some little cocktail stickers by Jolee’s Boutique and some sunglasses stickers from La Petites Watercolor Fun dimensional stickers. I also used some vibrant stickers including the one used as the title from The Happy Planner’s Memory Planning and Rainbow sticker books.

vote1.jpg

This page was created for the Sketch-N-Scrap August challenge. I love this cute layout and its use of tags. I stayed pretty true to the sketch except for moving my title and swapping out the butterflies for lots of beach-themed embellishments.

363 copy.jpg

This page was also made for the Color, Stories, Inspiration August challenge that definitely epitomizes summer.

Evidence Used:

  • Solid white background

  • Stripes

  • Cursive font

  • Sunglasses

  • Lemons or other fruit

  • Flip flops, hat

  • Enamel Dots

That’s all for this time. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next edition!

Washi Tape And Paper Layering

image_6483441.JPG

Hi everyone! Welcome back. This week I bring you a page that once again features my kitty Jupiter. Like most cats, she spends a large amount of her day sleeping. This shot shows me clearly interrupting her cat nap by taking this photo. She’s annoyed, but also very cute.

I started with some plain blue-gray cardstock and used some paper scraps as well as some wash tape by Saien. I love the little cats! I used a frame from the My Mind’s Eye Hello Gorgeous ephemera collection and put a big kitty sticker in it. Some mint and gold arrow stickers and brads, both by The Paper Studio, and some bows by Recollections were used to embellish.

aug remix.jpg

This page was created for Scrap Our Stash’s August scrap lift. I used some navy striped paper from Vicki Boutin’s Mixed Media stack to mat my photo. The diagonal stripes are subtle and pair well with the blue-gray background.

image_6483441.JPG

This page was also done for the Double Trouble Challenge blog who partnered with 2 Crafty Critter Crazies for the month. I used some cat phrase stickers by The Paper Studio which contained the perfect cat pun for this page’s title.

That’s all for this time. Thank you for coming bye. I’ll see you all next time. Keep scrapping’ everyone!

Showtime With Stan

Neon And Kraft

image_6483441-2.JPG

Hi scrappers! This week I bring you some loud colors and pictures from a loud concert! My husband’s band opened for Thrice a few years back and I took these photos of him during the performance. He rarely plays anymore so it was really fun seeing him rock out again with his friends. The stage lighting was really vibrant and inspired the color scheme for this eccentric page.

image_6483441.JPG

I used a page from DCWV’s Embossed Kraft stack for my background and matted it with some neon yellow cardstock from The Paper Studio’s Affinity stack. I splattered the page with some watered down acrylic paint but then proceeded to cover up about 90% of it with all the other things I added to the page. Oops. I found a packet of mixed media materials in my stash that didn’t even have a brand name on it, but did have the most perfect blue and yellow papers pre-cut to be great photo mats for my pictures. I added in some neon yellow striped paper from Prima Marketing’s Rock Out Bro stack and some polka dot paper from DCWV’s Kraft & Gold 6 X 6 stack. I’m amazed a finally used the yellow paper because it’s so loud and crazy, I didn’t think I would ever use it up. I guess I have to take more photos with neon yellow lighting in the background because the paper really shines here.

I used my Marvy Uchida lever punch to make a few tags and my Fiskars circle punch to cut up some paper scraps. I used my guillotine paper cutter to cut the circles into halves and quarters because I am incapable of cutting a straight line. I arranged all the pieces along with some miscellaneous buttons and some flair buttons by Project Life, adhesive chipboard by K & Company, and puffy stickers by The Happy Planner. I have no idea who makes the glittery kraft star stickers because I didn’t save the packaging with the brand name.

You can watch me put this page together start to finish in the video below:

#479 Jenessa Franco Aug 1.jpg

This page was created for the Sketches in Thyme August challenge. This sketch was so fun and I made sure to incorporate certain elements like the tags and paint splatters. Instant of Polaroid embellishments, I used circle fragments instead.

Aug 21 mood board.jpg

This page was also made for the Kraft Plus August challenge that was inspired by…pie graphs? It was an unusual prompt but ended up inspiring a really unique page. I never would have though to use my circle punch in this way and I like all the curved lines in contrast to my straight-edged photos. Thank you Kraft Plus for such a unique challenge!

That’s all for this time. Thanks for joining me and I’ll see you soon!

Good Vibes, Great Times

A Pastel Palette And Accumulated Clouds

photo.JPG

Welcome back everyone! I tried to squeeze in one more scrapbook challenge for the month! This week’s page features my husband and I with the iconic Golden Gate bridge in the background. We we visiting family in Northern California and my husband had never seen the bridge in person! We stopped by so he could get some beautiful shots of the legendary landmark before continuing on our way.

52418.jpg

I started with a very old piece of teal cloud paper from Paper House. I couldn’t even make a guess at what year I bought it, but it found a perfect home on this page. I double matted it with orchid and aqua cardstock from AC Cardstock’s Spring pack. It looks really nice but made the page so thick that the hand sewing I did later proved pretty difficult. I matted my photo with paper scraps and some pale pink paper from Artsy Collages’ Textured paper book. (Pretty sure this company doesn’t exist anymore but i probably bought this book in 2005.)

I really love how the dual tags came out on this page. I used some basic white tags by Paper Studio and assorted wash tapes and a bujo pad to decorate. See products below:

  • Crate Paper Washi Rolls Here + There Collection

  • 49 and Market Lilac Washi Strips

  • Bentoto House Constellation Washi Tape

  • Yuxian Bujo Pad

I used an item I have never used on a previous page and I’m not even sure how this item made its way into my stash. I used a transparent overlay by Colorbok and then layers one of the tags and some stickers from my Happy Planner Colorful Boxes book, Shimelle sticker book, and Paper Studio Bottle Cap sticker book. I also painted some small wooded embellishments with acrylic paint so they matched the color theme. The speech bubble sticker worked so perfectly with the little wooden couple!

206729821_10222927303485289_4745577781046280397_n.jpg

This page was created for the 123 Challenge Blog Facebook Group. Their sketch for the month is so cute! Instead of flowers, I used a variety of other embellishments, but replicated the large heart by making a template from some printer paper and then stitching the outline with four colors of embroidery floss. I had four different needles threaded at once and it got a little chaotic, but I like the result much more than if I had used just one color.

I found a sticker in my stash that said “Good Vibes” and matched the color palette. The “Good Times” came from tiny pennent stickers by Hazel & Ruby.

That’s all for now. The YouTube video showing how I created this page is in the works so stay tuned!

Museum Of Ice Cream

Woodgrain, Gold, And Bananas

image.JPG

Hi scrappers! Welcome back to my blog! This week’s page features a photo taken when my husband and I visited the Museum of Ice Cream in Los Angeles. It was a really fun pop-up art installation complete with ice cream samples and lots of great photo opportunities. This particular room was full of plastic bananas hung from the ceiling. They also had a swimming pool full of sprinkles!

image_6483441-3.JPG

I started with some simple woodgrain paper from The Paper Studio’s Dendrology stack and paired it with some pink cardstock from American Crafts Spring stack. I found some really pretty pink paper from the DCWV Be Mine stacked cut a large piece to sit under my photo. However, by the time the page was finished, had I covered most of the design. Go figure. I used some dessert printed paper with gold foil from Recollections Day Dream paper pad. This pad is 5.8 X 8.8 rather than the usual 12 X 12 or 8 X 8 so I’d never used it until now. I love the pretty gold writing and how the images perfectly match my dessert theme. Some gold brail alpha stickers by Recollections and some white and pink tag stickers by Doodlebug Designs makes up the bold title.

july2021cc.jpg

This page was created for the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie July challenge. I love their inspo photo and start craving cookies just looking at it. I drew inspiration from the pink, green and white color theme as well as the woodgrain background. I also added some flower stickers, although mine are gold and sparkly by EK Success rather than pink.

stacy.jpg

This page was also done for Sketch N Scrap. Rather than use three photos, I used one along with two dessert embellishments, all matted on basic white cardstock. Rather than stars, I made embellishment clusters with some of the following products:

  • Bow embellishments by The Paper Studio

  • Rose charm by The Bead Landing

  • Gold metal rim tags by JoAnns

  • La Petities sakura flower sticks by The Paper Studio

  • Summer Bliss chipboard accents by Echo Park Paper Co.

  • Green brads by Bo Bunny

  • The Happy Planner puffy stickers by MAMBI

  • Assorted tags by K & Company

Oh, Hello There

Whimsical Prints and Vellum Embellishments

image_6483441-2.JPG

Hey everyone and welcome to July! This week I bring you a selfie I took a while back of me and my husband. This time I used a 5 X 7 rather than a 4 X 6 image so it really took up the majority of the page. I kept embellishments simple since I knew I would have less room than usual around my photo.

photo.JPG

I started with my background paper that had flowers and curly-cues. This came in a very old paper pack and might have been among some of the first scrapbook papers I bought over 20 years ago. The pattern has a whimsical feel so I chose some other papers with a similar vibe from my stash of scraps. I found some green vellum that matched particularly well. I had cut a large circle out of the original piece of vellum so the scrap had a distinct curve. This curve became a nice stylized element when I layered it over a kraft-colored tag. I found some other pretty vellum elements in a Heidi Swapp Ephemera pack.

Vellum requires some creativity to fasten it in place since it’s transparent and any stickers, glues or adhesives will show. Brads are my preferred method of attaching vellum and I used some on this page to tack down both my tag and the heart detail. The tiny hearts on the tag were too small for brads so I had to use some glue to stick them down.

Some enamel dots by Pinkfresh Studio and half of a paper doily add the final touches.

I’m excited to announce my all new YouTube channel! To watch how a created this page, check out the above ASMR inspired video!

This page was created for The Studio Challenges where the theme this month was cut file or punches. I used a large EK punch with a smaller heart cutout. The two small hearts from my larger cutouts were used to embellish my tag.

Screen Shot 2021-07-07 at 9.55.23 PM.png

This page was also created for Sketches In Thyme. I liked the paper layering and took it one step further by adding an additional layer behind my photo. I added a couple of tags and an embellishment cluster to display my heart punch.

Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you next time!

First Of All, You’re Really Pretty

Busy Florals And Vellum Shakers

image_6483441.JPG

Hi everyone! Today’s page features my kitty Europa who is a turkish angora mix. She’s very pretty and very fluffy. She’s also very photogenic so I can’t stop taking photos of her!

image_72192707.JPG

I started with some retro floral print paper by Recollections. This paper makes a bold statement but is also very busy. To be honest, I probably should have used smaller pieces as accents rather than the entire page, but that’s not what happened. Because my background paper has so much going on, I kept embellishments simple and only used a few.

Some deep blue paper from Paper Pizazz made a good mat for my photos and I used some paper scraps in colors that complimented my background paper. I like the metallic orange paper since it gives a different finish and the tan and white paper features an organic pattern that mimics the petals in the flowers.

I had some really old vellum tags in a green color that went well with my palette. I filled the pockets with some sequins and sealed the flaps with some stickers from a Dear Lizzy sticker book to create a custom shaker. Some embellishments from Bo Bunny’s Floral Spice collection also go well with my background paper.

sit june 2021.jpg

This page was created for the Sketches in Thyme June challenge (Sketch 473.) I kept the theme of multiple mats and stacking my photos vertically. However, I simplified the embellishment clusters by using tags instead along with a kitty and speech bubble stickers for my title.

That’s all for now. Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you soon!

Torn Edges And Subtle Polka Dots

image_6483441-2.JPG

Hi scrappers! I’m sharing a very special page this week that I just made as a wedding gift for a good friend. I printed some their engagement photos that I found on Facebook and framed the page I made with them. I hope they love it!

I started with a piece of blue floral paper from DCWV’s Be Mine stack. This paper also has words like “Love” and “Sweetheart” in the pattern which is perfect for the theme. I also used some orange watercolor textured paper by Vicki Boutin and tore pieces of it to layer over the blue paper. I used my fingers to roll the torn edge back to make it more apparent and give a 3D effect. I then tore multiple layers of scrap paper and made layered mats for the photos. I used some paper flowers and stickers by Crate Paper Journal Studio finish the page.

357 copy.jpg

This page was created for the Color Stories Inspiration June challenge. I really liked the whimsical feel of the inspirational image and the fresh color scheme. I used the following “evidence”:

  • Polka Dots

  • Birds

  • Butterflies

  • Cursive

  • Vellum

jume remic.jpg

This page was also created for the Scrap Our Stash Challenge which was a scrap lift! I love the torn paper elements since that’s not an element I usually bring to my pages. I used some polk dot paper but not as extensively as in the inspiration page. My polka dots paper had golden dots which didn’t photograph well but I like the shine it added when viewing the page in person.

That’s all for now. As usual, thanks for stopping by my page and I’ll see you next time!

You Are Capable Of Amazing Things

Kraft And Purple

Untitled 1.png

Hi scrappers! This week I bring you a page featuring an extreme close-up portrait my husband took of me several years ago. I think this photo was taken at the beach but I don’t remember for sure. Purple is my favorite color so I coupled Kraft with a pretty lavender color and some pale blue highlights. I really like how the page turned out.

Untitled.png

I started with a piece of grid printed paper from the Craft Smart Kraft Basics stack. This is a really great stack for people that gravitate towards kraft. It contains lots of patterns that make for interesting backgrounds while still having kraft as the prominent color.

I then used a white gel pen to draw some squiggles and doodles. I used a double-sided piece of paper by Bo Bunny and tore off the corner pieces to embellish the page. I cut some squares from the opposite side that featured purple roses and placed them behind my photos. I used a tag by Bo Bunny and placed a piece of purple cardstock behind it to make the laser-cut details easier to see. I added some stickers from a sticker book by Shimelle and a mini ruler embellishment along with a pale blue watering can by One Canoe Two. Some silk flowers and polka dot buttons complete the page.

May 21 inspiration.jpg

This page was created for Kraft Plus Challenges where the May prompt was faces. This inspired me to scrap the photo that featured my face so predominately as well as to use a page from a Bujo pad that had a face. I wish there was more than one because I would have added a second face to the layout if possible.

May-2021-Main-Faces-3.jpg

This page was also made for the More Than Words challenge blog which collaborated with Kraft Plus this month and featured the same prompt of faces.

That’s all for now. Thank you for visiting and I’ll see you next time.

Hello Beautiful

Fuzzy Fibers And Floral Embellishments

Untitled 1.png

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well! This week a bring you a layout featuring some photos that were taken a few years back during a super bloom after a heavy rain. Even in a desert environment, it’s amazing how many wildflowers can bloom after a little bit of rain.

Untitled.png

I started with a very old piece of blue polka dot paper and used some lavender cardstock as a mat. The teal dot and magenta swirl papers were in my stash of scraps and I layered some strips under my photos. I used some stickers from Amy Tangerine, Vicki Boutin, and Heidi Swapp as well as some paper flowers by The Paper Studio and some die cuts from Kaiser Craft’s Violet Crush collection.

Untitled.png

This page was created for the Double Trouble May challenge. Part one was to include flower and part 2 of the challenge was to use the provided color scheme. My photos already had plenty of flowers but I added more with paper flowers and stickers. I loved the color combination they used, especially the bright magenta mixed with the pastels.

Capture.PNG

This page was also create for the Scrap Our Stash challenge. For the month of May, they provided a layout to scrap lift. I rotated the layout 90 degrees to better fit my photos, but stayed pretty true to the original. Instead of twine, I threaded fluffy teal fiber through my tag and used a puffy sticker in the shape of a location marker as my traveling icon.

Thanks for visting my page and I’ll see you back here for the next layout. Bye scrappers!

Teal And White

image_6483441(36).JPG

Welcome back everyone! As summer approaches in Southern California, my husband and I make the trip to Laguna Beach more and more frequently. These photos were taken a couple of years ago on one such beach day. Most of the time, even if the weather is nice, the ocean can be freezing but on this particular day, the water was warm enough to swim in without a wet suit.

Untitled.png

I started with some plain white card stock and then used some teal text paper from Heartfelt Creations’ Everyday Heroes collection. I cut a strip to use as my title and then another larger piece to place behind my photos. Some dark teal card stock scraps with a chalk-like finish continue the simple color theme but add a matte texture to the page. I also used a small scrap of vellum and some washi tape with similar colors.

NSD 2021 sketch.jpg

This page was created for the Sketch N Scrap May challenge. I flipped the sketch 180 degrees and used fewer scraps in larger pieces rather than the multiple smaller strips shown. I used some teal flowers from Bo Bunny’s Floral Spice ephemera since the original sketch contained some flowers too.

Rainforest-Green.jpg
Moodboard-May.jpg

This page was also made for White…With 1’s current challenge. Check out their color swatch and beautiful mood board! This is such a pretty shade of green and I had a lot of fun finding matching items from my stash. I incorporated some of the leafy elements by using a sticker from The Paper Studio’s Bottle Cap sticker book and a page from a Bujo (short for bullet journaling) pad.

I had never heard of bullet journaling but once I discovered an Instagram account featuring the practice, a saw a lot of parallels to scrapbooking. I immediately tracked down some of the little notepads with tear-out pages featuring nature scenes, famous artworks, and lots of other images perfect for adding to my pages. This one comes from a collection I found on Amazon.

Find Joy In The Everyday

Fruits And Veggies And Muted Greens

Untitled1.png

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a good May. This week’s layout is a fun mix of avocado and teal tones and features a photo of my husband and I taken a few years back. Mustard flowers pop up every Spring in Southern California, turning entire hillsides an intense yellow green color. The flowers only last a couple of weeks before dying off. Since wildfires are getting more and more common, the local fire departments will often come out and cut down the brush near populated areas once it’s dry to decrease the danger of a blaze. My husband and I took advantage of the small window of times when the flowers were vibrant and went to a local hiking trail to get this shot. I happened to have a dress that matched!

Untitled.png

I started with the avocado-colored geometric print paper. Since this was paper that was stored loosely and not in a stack, it had somehow gotten folded which resulted in a huge crease along the top. To disguise this, I added a strip of pale teal cardstock to hide the defect and ended up really like this design element in the end.

I had ordered a set of 24 washi tapes off of Amazon and while the rolls are small and not the best quality, I really like the house design and the way it looks on this page. I pulled out pieces from various ephemera packs that matched my color theme and ended up with a fruit and veggie motif without initially intending to. I especially like the lettuce and radish piece from 7 Gypsies Junk Journal Goodies and the pears from Prima Marketing’s Fruit Paradise Ephemera. Some dark teal banner stickers from the Happy Planner’s Dream Seeker book made for a nice touch.

#467 by Jenessa Franco(1).jpg

I was invited to be a guest designer over at Sketches in Thyme for their May challenge. I was given this lovely sketch to work with. I used a gray paper frame by Recollections instead of a Polaroid frame and replaced the camera in the sketch with various ephemera. Rather than a traditional title and journaling, I used a cardstock pear and some text stickers instead which is a great trick if your handwriting isn’t very pretty like mine. A big thanks to Sketches in Thyme for letting me design for the month!

Thank you for visiting everyone! I’ll see you soon!

HI everyone! This week’s page features my kitty Jupiter Like most cats, she’ll often sit with her eyes closed, almost like she’s meditating. I snapped some photos of her in this zen state. I love the way she always curls her tail around her toes.

I started with some pale green paper by K & Company that was embossed with copper glitter. I added some teal patterned washi tape and some pink and gold botanical stickers from The Happy Planner’s Home is with You sticker book. Since my background paper was already so ornate, my page didn’t need too many more embellishments. I used some ribbon, some pink paper flowers by The Paper Studio and some butterflies by K & Company. I love the way all the colors look together.

This page was created for the Color, Stories, Inspiration April challenge. Even though the inspo pic is Easter themed, some of it’s colors still inspired the page I made. Below are some of the criteria I chose to use to create my layout.

Product Clues:

  • Find older papers that match some of the colors in The Scene

  • Use distressed patterns

  • Use older wood-veneer shapes

  • Use lots of ribbon

Design Clues

  • Create a shabby-chic look on your page

This page was also created for Scrap Our Stash. This month’s challenge was a scrap lift. Having a colorful background rather than a white one really changes the feel of the page!

I’ll see you next time everyone! Thanks for stopping by.

Summer Vacation

Turquoise Beaches

Untitled1.png

Hi everyone! This week I have a fun and Summery layout featuring some photos taken a few years ago in Hawaii. I’m hoping we can travel freely again soon so I can go back!

Untitled.png

I used some turquoise cardstock from The Paper Studio’s Splash stack and added some turquoise polka dot paper that I had in my stash of scraps. I found some really old blue and yellow hibiscus print paper that worked really well with my photos and paired it with a blue paper tag and some turquoise paper to mat my photos. I just purchased some cool washi tape squares and found one with an ocean scene that matched my color palette. I added some palm frond washi tape from Crate Paper and added some Stickabilities Pineapple stickers in yellow and turquoise.

Sketch April 21.jpg

This page was made for the April sketch at Studio Challenges. I stuck with three cropped photos and used a sticker by EK Success for the title.

This page was also created for Double Trouble’s April challenge. The criteria was to make a summer themed page and to add a speech bubble. I used a sticker from Shimelle’s sticker book for the speech bubble.

Double Trouble teamed up with Cupcake Inspirations to share the April challenge. I hadn’t heard of this blog before but I look forward to participating in the future!

That’s all for this time. Thanks for stopping by and keep scrapping!
