Peony Garden Papers

Hi scrappers! 2024 has been a crazy year and I can’t believe I’m here with the very last post before 2025! Both of my cats like to nap on our dining table since the sun comes in through the blinds in the afternoon. I took these photos of one of my cats enjoying the late day sun.

This whole page was based around a double-sided paper by Mintay from their Peony Garden collection. I knew I wanted to feature the cat and floral detail on one side but the page would be too busy if I used that side in its entirety. I cut the paper into three strips an moved the center strip with the cat image to the left of my layout. The other two I flipped to the reverse side with a pink crackle pattern and used a strip of scrap paper to hide the seam. This paper is so perfect because the cat is sitting in front of some blinds, just like my photos!

From there, I used some paper scraps from previous projects that were part of the same Peony Garden collection and layered them behind my photos. I used some kraft colored paper as a mat for each photo that helped separate them from my background. The title was made using some chipboard alpha stickers by Momenta that were striped in a way that also looked a little like blinds. Besides a paper doily and enamel dots by Craft Consortium, all other embellishments were die cuts also by Mintay. I popped some up with foam tape to give additional dimension.

I used sketch 642 by Sketches in Thyme but took a lot of liberties, especially with the background. However, I kept the doily embellishment, use of butterflies, and the positioning of the title the same.

It’s time to say goodby to 2024 but I will be back in the new year with a whole new set of challenges. Thank you for joining me in my love of paper crafting!
