Iceland Icebergs

Hi scrappers and welcome to 2022. May it bring better things that what we have seethe past few years. This week I created a page featuring photos taken at Jökulsárlón in Iceland in 2018. This world famous beach is right next to huge icebergs in the ocean. Ice chunks will break off and wash up on the black sand beach and when the sunlight hits them, they look like a beautiful art installation. It used to be that ice only broke off in the summer and reformed in the winter but due to global warming, the icebergs now shrink year round. In only a few years, there will be no icebergs left to go see which is a very sad thought. I’m glad I got to experience them when they were still around.

I used some pale teal paper from the DCWV All Chalked Up stack. This paper has a unique texture and really does resemble a chalkboard! I used 2 pages each from the Echo Park Getaway and Bo Bunny Altitude 6 X 6 books to create quadrants for the background. I used some watered down acrylic paint to create a wash of color in some of the corners. Enamel dots and snowflake stickers by The Paper Studio and a picture of hot cocoa from a vellum bullet journal pad make for cozy winter embellishments. I also found an old bag of die cuts in my stash and one of them happened to be a snowman. While I did not build a snowman at the beach, it makes for a nice addition to the page.

This page was created for the Color, Stories, Inspiration January challenge. I matched the background of my layout to the background color in the Inso pic. I also used the following “evidence”:

  • Dots

  • Snowflakes

  • Winter-themed elements

  • Mug/tea/hot cocoa

  • Die cuts

  • Watercolor or ink in the background

This page was also created for Becky Fleck sketch 257 at Cherry on Top. I only used 3 photos and made the fourth spot an embellishment cluster since I didn’t have an extra photo. I also didn’t have any horizontal pictures but made it work with what I had.

That’s all for this time. Thank you for visiting and I hope your 2022 is off to a happy and healthy start.
