Rainbows And Paper Piecing
Hi scrappers! This week is all about rainbows! I used a picture taken near Yosemite National Park where I was wearing a very colorful dress and wanted to create a page to match. I love how the dark red and purple background created contrast for all the other bright embellishments I layered on top.
When I start with a page, I usually have some paper that I want to build the layout around. In this case, I wanted to make an effort to use a page torn from one of the many bujo pads I have. I bought a bunch and I love them, but I don’t use them as much as I thought I would. I flipped the little book open at random and it happened to be the image of the rainbow and trees. I built this whole page around that image and happened to have the perfect photo to match.
I used some cardstock from the Ombre Energized stack that matched the hues in my dress. This came in the June Cherry Box from A Cherry on Top Crafts and I love it so much that I’ve used it for nearly every page I have created this month. The stack brings lots of color and brings interest with the ombre effect but the texture is subtle enough that it’s not to busy once I add all of my embellishments on top of it.
I used an oversized tag from Vicki Boutin’s Sweet Rush embellishment collection. The tag was thicker and stiffer than anticipated since it was designed to make a tag journal so when I layered my photo over it, I used some foam mounting tape on three of the corners to make it level and provide some support. I found some Simple Stories embellishments from the Sn@p! collection that I have had for quite a while and found some perfect rainbow ephemera , one of which I used for the title. I added in some metallic rainbow and cloud stickers by Sticko (aren’t the happy little clouds the cutest?) and added in some circular stickers and enamel dots by The Paper Studio.
This page was created for the Sketch N Scrap June challenge. I liked the uneven stripes in the sketch as well as the contrast against the black background. Rather than use different colors for each stripe, I cut stripes from the same piece of ombre paper and alternated the directions I placed the strips in.
That’s all for this this week. Thank for for visiting! For more Scrap Attack content, you can find me on Instagram and YouTube at thescrapattack.
