Memorable Together

Silk Flowers And Paper Doilies

Hi scrappers. I’m here with the last layout of April! This week I used a photo of my two cats. They tolerate each other for the most part but aren’t exactly friends. They are usually content to hang out at opposite ends of the house so it’s rare to get a photo of them together. There were both enjoying the sun out on the patio and decided to peacefully coexist for a while so I was able to snap this rare picture with both of them in the frame.

I started with some white chartreuse and violet circle paper from the DCWV Violet Leaf stack as my background. My photo already had a yellow cast to it so I feel like the tone of this paper worked well. I had a scrap of leafy paper that matched the color green exactly. It’s from a different paper stack but the colors went together so well! I had some pretty vine-inspired paper doilies by Mo Card and I used two of them to continue the botanical theme. I have a big punch bowl full of silk flowers in my crafting area, but I don’t use them very often. I really made the flowers the focus and pulled out any that were white, beige, purple or chartreuse. I mixed in some silk leaves as wetland used various brads through the center of each flower to take it down. I especially love the cat brads by Eyelet Outlet and the white brads I used by Doodlebug are actually fuzzy! I added a stray piece of ric rac that was just the right shade of purple and added an old iron-on butterfly appliqué patch. It’s amazing what I find in my stash and how weird items eventually find themselves on my pages. As a finishing touch, I used The Crafter’s Workshop stencil butter in Fern along with a cat stencil but Stamperia to add some little green paw prints to my plain white tag.

This page was created for the sketch 562 over at the Sketches in Thyme Facebook group. I didn’t have a doily big enough for my 5 X 7 photo so I just used two smaller ones. This sketch was so perfect for flower embellishments. I mean, look at it!

This page was also created for the April/May pet challenge at A Cherry on Top Crafts where criteria was to show you pet outside. This is outside as it gets for these two since we have coyotes in the area. They do enjoy a sunny day on the patio though and I will often sit out there with them while I read a book.

That’s all for this week! As always, you can find more videos and photos @thescrapattack over on YouTube and Instagram. Come say hi!
