Guest Designer with Sketches in Thyme
Tiny Gremlin
Cat Colors
Hi scrappers! This week I’m bringing a layout that I created as a guest designer for Sketches in Thyme. The original set uses an 8 X 10 photo which I didn’t have so I made due with 4 4 X 6 photos cut down. These were some photos of my cat Jupiter, taken with my husbands fancy camera (notice the artsy depth of field) and she made some truly silly faces while he was shooting. The title comes from a nickname I have for her since she truly acts like a weird little monster sometimes.
I used some basic white cardstock by American Crafts. It’s slightly textures and nice and thick. 10/10 would recommend! I opened up some washi tape by London Gifties. This one is called Round Cats and features both cat heads and weird little egg-shaped cats. They’re quirky and weird, but so it Jupiter! I also cut out two cat heads from the roll to put on my larger triangle embellishments. All paper except for my white background were all scraps out of my stash. How perfect are the dark gray tiger stripes with may cat’s coloring? The other embellishments used were ephemera by 49 and Market and Prima and some enamel dots by Simple Stories. The alpha stickers and pink and gold flowers come from a little sticker book by Crate Paper and the hexagon puffy stickers were purchased at Hobby Lobby a lifetime ago.
Here is the original sketch from Sketches in Thyme that I turned 90 degrees. I used washi for those strips framing the page and kept the triangle embellishments. I moved the title and changed the section for journaling into multiple strips of patterned papers. As usual, I got carried away with embellishment clusters.
That’s it for now. Thank you to Sketches in Thyme for having me as a guest designer this month. This sketch was a fun challenge that was definitely took me out of my comfort zone.
