Scrapbook Challenge
Bimini Bliss
Stripes And Woodgrain
Hi scrappers! This weekI combine all kinds of patterns to make a page featuring photos from our trip to Bimini last year. Bimini is one of many islands in the Bahamas and is so small, we were able to walk from one side to the other in about eight minutes. The water was crystal clear and the most amazing shade of blue I have ever seen. We spent a lot of time on a boat where I took.a photo of my feet hanging over the edge. The turquoise woodgrain pattern was actually a photo I took of the wall of the local dive shop. Everything there is painted bright, beautiful colors and I decided to cut up this picture and use it as a design element.
I started with some plain kraft paper from the Craft Smart Kraft Basics paper stack. I cut down a piece of brown woodgrain paper from The Paper Studio Dendrology stack and added some strips of Blue Wag Pattern paper by Recollections. I used that same paper to mat my photo. I then raided my stash for slender paper pieces and all those half inch paper strips I saved came in handy. I also added in some orange arrow washi from the Crate Paper Here + There collection. I created my title from a Mini Banner by Me and My Big Ideas and some alpha stickers from the Crate Paper Journal Studio sticker book.Tweezer were very helpful in handling the tiny, delicate alpha stickers. I also added some glittery wave stickers by Recollections and (surprise!) enamel dots by Echo Park Paper Co. and Simple Stories.
The color palette was inspired by the June challenge over at Kraft Plus Challenges. They had a striking mood board this month and I knew I had items in my stash that contained these elements. I had the exact pattern in blue instead of orange so I used that instead and just added in some other orange elements as well. I included some woodgrain as well as several black and white striped elements including a tag from the My Mind’s Eye Hello Gorgeous ephemera pack and a sticker from the Bottle Cap sticker book by The Paper Studio.
I made this page using a sketch from a challenge at A Cherry on Top. I was really intrigued by this sketch and wanted to give it a try. I really had to search to find enough photos from the same event that would work with the colors and patterns I had chosen and also allow me to display three small photos. I actually ended up using four small squares because I cut down two photos into two squares each.
That’s all for this week. Thank you for visiting my page and I will see you all soon for a brand new layout.
